Update from Council July 2021

Update July 2021

July 1, 2021

Hello St Peter Church Family,

Phase three of the government’s plan for opening up our province July 1 includes a lifting of COVID restrictions, including the ban on indoor gatherings. We have heard from some of our church family that they are feeling anxious about having no restrictions for our church activities, while others are anxious to get back to everything we did as a church before.

As your council, we will try to strike a balance and take a more gradual approach, considering the varied comfort levels and the fact that not everyone in our province and likely our congregation, have been fully vaccinated. We will work toward a full return to our church services and activities over the next few weeks.

We will follow the direction from Dr. Hinshaw and ask that people continue to assess their wellness and if they have symptoms, please do not attend church. Please follow respiratory etiquette when coughing or sneezing. We will continue to offer hand sanitizer and encourage its use, and masks for those that wish to wear them for a little longer.  We ask that people continue to consider their spacing in the pews, out of consideration for others who may not be feeling as comfortable or may not be fully vaccinated.

With every turn of this journey over the last year and a half, we have been challenged with showing tolerance and respect for those with different opinions from our own. Returning to normal will be no different and will present another opportunity to demonstrate God’s grace to one another in recognizing the varied feelings people have about reopening.

We ask for your prayers for our church and our community as we take the next steps to returning to normalcy.

Yours in Christ,
Nancy Aspenes
