Pastor’s Message/Worship Resources: June 28, 2020

Welcome to Church Online

The Season of Pentecost is a time of consistency in the Church Year. In some traditions, it is known as “ordinary time.” Green is the color for the season of Pentecost. Green evokes a sense of growth and life. The season of Pentecost is a time for the church to deepen its roots, to be watered and bask in the sunlight, to let God provide the growth.   (CPH.org)

We wait. We pray. We hope. Our service is online each week, with music, God’s Word, messages of hope, prayers for the people, and blessings to take into your week. At least for now, this is where we are. We hope you will continue to join us here for online worship as we await the time when we will be able to gather together for worship and fellowship once again. But for now, keep safe and know that our God is constant.

In this post you will find resources for you to use at home – there is a link to an audio file of Pastor Jonny’s message, as well as music, prayers and files in PDF format should you wish to download and/or print. It is our deepest hope that these resources will be of assistance to you as you worship our Lord and Saviour.

4th Sunday after Pentecost: Denial

But listen now to this word that I speak in your hearing and in the hearing of all the people.   Jeremiah 28:7

A Call to Worship...

Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open, all desires known,
and from you no secrets are hidden.
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name,
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Praise with Music: The Goodness of God

From the moment that I wake up, until I lay my head, I will sing of the goodness of God!

Prayer of the Day:

Let us pray…      Almighty God, you have built your Church upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone: Grant us so to be joined together in unity of spirit by their teaching, that we may be made a holy temple acceptable to you; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Children's Worship: For the young & the young at heart

Below you will find a link to a short YouTube video about Paul’s Letters. It is from the “What’s in the Bible?” video series.
Throughout the Season of Pentecost the Second Lesson of our Scripture readings each week is from one of Paul’s letters so, it seems fitting that we learn a little bit about them.

Here are links to a couple of related colouring pages:

Clicking on the Scripture links will take you to the Revised Common Lectionary at the Vanderbilt Divinity Library where you can read the lessons.

“And whoever gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones in the name of a disciple — truly I tell you, none of these will lose their reward.”      – Matthew 10:42

Faithful God, your love stands firm from generation to generation, your mercy is always abundant. Give us open and understanding hearts, that having heard your word, we may seek Christ’s presence in all whom we meet. Amen.

Audio Message - Pastor Jonny: Pentecost 2

But we need not be in denial about our need for help, for a rescue, or of the promises that Jesus offers to us — that there is a reward for those who receive Jesus’ messengers & his message. And that that reward is a new life, freedom from our enslavements, and eternity with Jesus. (Excerpt from today’s message)

The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen

Loving God, open our ears to hear your word and draw us closer to you, that the whole world may be one with you as you are one with us in Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

"Sending" Music: Who You Say I Am

“Who the Son sets free, Oh is free indeed. I’m a child of God, yes I am”

Benediction:

Pastor Jonny

The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord look on you with favour and give you His peace. In the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Go in Peace, Serve the Lord. Thanks be to God!
