Pastor’s Message/Worship Resources: June 14, 2020

Welcome to Church Online

SPL_Church exterior_OnlineWorship

The Season of Pentecost is a time of consistency in the Church Year. In some traditions, it is known as “ordinary time.” Green is the color for the season of Pentecost. Green evokes a sense of growth and life. The season of Pentecost is a time for the church to deepen its roots, to be watered and bask in the sunlight, to let God provide the growth.   (CPH.org)

We wait. We pray. We hope. Our service is online each week, with music, God’s Word, messages of hope, prayers for the people, and blessings to take into your week. At least for now, this is where we are. We hope you will be with us as we await the time when we will be able to gather together for worship and fellowship once again. But for now, keep safe and know that our God is constant.

In this post you will find resources for you to use at home – there is a link to an audio file of Pastor Jonny’s message, as well as music, prayers and files in PDF format should you wish to download and/or print. The internet continues to be a very busy place these days – some files may take extra time to download on your device. It is our deepest hope that these resources will be of assistance to you as you worship our Lord and Saviour.

“Absurd times call for absurd amounts of grace, flexibility and patience.”

2nd Sunday after Pentecost: I brought you to myself

I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. Now therefore, if you obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession out of all the peoples.    – Exodus 19:4-5

A Call to Worship...

harvest-038

Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open, all desires known,
and from you no secrets are hidden.
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts
by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name,
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

From the Psalms: We are His people...

Psalm100-3

Praise with Music: He Has Made Me Glad

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise….”    Psalm 100:4

Prayer of the Day:

Let us pray…      Keep, O Lord, your household the Church in your steadfast faith and love, that through your grace we may proclaim your truth with boldness, and minister your justice with compassion; for the sake of our Savior Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Prayers of the People / Lord's Prayer

Friends in Christ, God invites us to hold the needs of our sisters and brothers as dear to us as our own needs. Loving our neighbors as ourselves, we offer our thanksgivings and our petitions on behalf of the church and the world.

Prayers of the Peoplethis link takes you the Lutheran Core website where you will find the prayers online. This PDF file (Prayers of the Church – 2nd after Pentecost)  is a transcript of the prayers that you can print if you wish.

The Lord’s Prayer: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen

Hear our prayers that we may love you with our whole being
and willingly share the concerns of our neighbors. Amen.

"Sending" Music: Freely, Freely

“Freely, freely you have received, freely, freely give.

Go in my name, and because you believe others will know that I live.”

A Blessing:

AllThingsPossible-1

God of compassion,
you have opened the way for us
and brought us to yourself.
Pour your love into our hearts,
that, overflowing with joy,
we may freely share the blessings of your realm
and faithfully proclaim the good news of Christ.
Amen

Go in Peace, Serve the Lord. Thanks be to God!
